Zine #9 - Montreal

Canada has a special place in my heart. I spent my final year of high school in Toronto and later went to university in Ottawa from 1994 to 1998. Because of that, going back to Canada always feels a little familiar, even when I am visiting a city I have not spent much time in.

I was in Montreal in June 2023 for the FIRST Annual Conference. It was summer, the days were long, and thanks to jet lag, I found myself awake early enough to go for a few photo walks before the conference programme started. Some of these walks were with friends who were also attending the event, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable.

Montreal is a beautiful city to photograph. There is a nice mix of old buildings, busy streets, quiet corners, cafés, people, and little details that catch your eye when you slow down. But one thing I really enjoyed was the amount of murals and street art around the city. They added so much colour and character to the streets.

This zine, Montreal is a small collection of photos from those walks. It is not meant to be a complete view of Montreal, but more of a personal record of a few days wandering around the city with a camera, enjoying the light, the streets, and the company of good friends.
